Live: Gallows

Live: Gallows

Gallows, ABC, Glasgow – 8th May 2009

Gallows don’t mince their words, so I’m not fucking going to either.

Tonight I saw a lot of things. I saw frontman Frank Carter race his brother Steph to the back of the venue before being carried back by a loyal fan. I saw Frank perform from the middle of a whirlwind circle pit. I saw his brother rush onstage and steal his microphone before diving into the mob of fans, screaming. I saw five men give every fucking drop of energy they had to a wild, hungry, loyal crowd. I saw blood, I saw sweat and at one point I couldn’t see.

Most important however, is what I heard. I heard vital, passionate, vitriolic punk music that didn’t let up for one fucking second. I heard fans scream, sing and shout every single lyric back at the Hertfordshire punks. I heard punk music at its best.

Do yourself a fucking favour and go see Gallows.

Our Arbitrary Numerical Verdict:
 ★★★★★

Gallows are currently on tour, and their new album Grey Britain is out now on Warner Music.
