Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has revealed that the alternative-pop four-piece have recorded a new song for the forthcoming Shrek sequel, Shrek Forever After. The following appeared on the band’s Twitter account this morning:
“Amazing day. Finishing touches on the Shrek song, band rehearsal, dope session with Kevin Rudolf.–RC”
This is the second time the band have written material for the Shrek franchise. “My Best Friend”, which later appeared on 2005′s Make Believe, was originally slated to appear alongside the opening credits to Shrek 2, but was ultimately replaced by “Accidently in Love” by Counting Crows.
In other news, according to the band’s webmaster Karl Koch, Weezer’s forthcoming rarities collection, Odds and Ends, and a deluxe edition of their sophomore album, Pinkerton, will “be out before or by spring”.
