Brooklyn’s finest lyrical bar band The Hold Steady have revealed details of a fifth studio album, Heaven Is Whenever. The album will be released on May 3rd through Rough Trade, and will be their first since the departure of keyboard player/multi-instrumentalist Franz Nicolay earlier this year.

The album is produced by Dean Baltulonis (Almost Killed Me and Separation Sunday), and is said to be “about embracing suffering, and understanding its place in a joyful life.”

Heaven Is Whenever‘s track listing is as follows:

1. The Sweet Part of the City
2. Soft In The Center
3. The Weekenders
4. The Smidge
5. Rock Problems
6. We Can Get Together
7. Hurricane J
8. Barely Breathing
9. Our Whole Lives
10. A Slight Discomfort

A brief interview with band members Craig Finn and Tad Kubler can be found at Drowned in Sound; last year we had a chance to catch up with the now-departed Franz Nicolay – you can read that here.
